Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL USA, Inc. is seeking multiple Technical Support Engineers / Surveyors to work at our office in Katy, Texas.

 

Job Duties: Provide technical support services related to inspection surveys and certification of ships in service to ascertain the condition of mechanically functioning hulls, machinery, equipment, and equipage to determine repairs required for vessels to meet requirements for classification. Serve as expert regarding Fleet in service related classification matters including class systematics, statutory, hull and machinery.

 

Position Qualifications

Main Requirements: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Engineering, Naval Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and two (2) years of experience as (all levels): Marine Engineer/Surveyor, Marine Surveyor/Auditor, Surveyor/Auditor, Marine Auditor, Marine Surveyor, Surveyor, Surveyor/Engineer, Marine Engineer, Technical Officer, Naval Architect, Planning Engineer, Production Control Engineer or related occupation.

 

Alternate Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in stated fields and five (5) years of stated experience.

 

Special Skills: Also requires experience with the following:

 

  • Inspection of ships in service;
  • International codes and conventions;
  • Statutory surveys on behalf of Flag Administrations on passenger or cargo ships; and
  • Compliance with operating standards and vessel safety standards.
