Energy Transition Engineer

DNV Energy System’s North America Engineering and Technology department supports clients through technical advisory, verification, consulting, and thought leadership on energy transition technologies and services.

We are seeking an Energy Transition Engineer who is a leader, an abstract thinker, can independently solve problems, and can build and grow DNV’s internal capacity to meet energy transition and decarbonization goals and objectives.

The successful candidate will engage an internal network of collaborators to contribute to cross-disciplinary service delivery to clients, including CCUS, Offshore Wind, Natural Gas, and other forms of Energy sources in North America and around the globe. The successful candidate will have and build an external network of clients and partners who are eager to accelerate the energy transition and respond to climate change. The candidate must possess the skills necessary to operate and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment where advancement depends on their ability to grow this service.

This position can be based out of any of our DNV offices within the Continental U.S. preferably in Katy, TX.

What You’ll Do

• Proactively contribute to developing and delivering a strong portfolio of services related to projects including CCUS, Offshore Wind, and Natural Gas
• Function in a team environment to cooperatively achieve DNV and service goals
• Build effective internal and external relationships
• Write project proposals, work plans, reports, and strategy documents
• Manage and balance multiple projects and project teams while keeping all items on-schedule and within budget expectations
• Support sales and business development
• Execute projects together with regional and global resources
• Build customer relationships and monitor customer satisfaction

What is Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Process or Industrial Engineering, or related degree
• Related B.S will be considered only when paired with relevant experience
• Minimum (5) years of work experience in an energy consulting or operation environment with a focus carbon capture, sequestration, use, and/or storage
• Experience in project support and management in a relevant field
• Demonstrated ability to engage, support, and respond to stakeholders
• Solutions-focused, collaborative personality with strong interpersonal skills
• An organized, detail-oriented approach and the ability to work and make decisions independently
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time as required
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

What is Preferred

• Motivation for sourcing and/or successfully steering efforts to obtain new business
• Entrepreneurial/opportunistic approach to work and projects, innovative problem-solving skills, and ability to drive innovation planning and execution internally and with clients
• Professional Engineering license
• Existing contacts within the broader energy industry in North America
• Project management certification
