DNV is in the middle of a digital transformation, as are the industries in which we operate.  Our Growth, Innovation and Digital team in the UK and Ireland is seeking a Senior Data Analytics Consultant who will be part of a highly competent and passionate team helping our customers in the energy industry to prepare for the future.

 

As part of an initiative to accelerate this process, the team builds and scale data analysis competence to further develop our digital service portfolio and capabilities.  Working in this team you will assist with digitalization of projects and improve delivery tools by automating work flows.  In this role you will focus on data for innovation – within both data analysis and data engineering contexts.

Scope:

  • Owning the development of specific deliverables within data analytics and data engineering projects
  • Working with clients across the energy sector on data analytics and data engineering projects
  • Supporting more senior members of the team in client management and mentoring more junior members of staff
  • Stimulating and inspiring cross-functional teams – both internally and externally
  • Supporting proposal activities to support the development of new business
  • Presenting key deliverables to our clients’ organisations.

 

 Carrying out activities, including:

  • Working with engineers in the energy industry across the entire value chain (e.g. decarbonization, renewables, power grids, gas transmission and distribution)
  • Data cleansing, curation and structuring activities within toolsets including: VS Code; Azure DevOps; GitHub; Python and Jupyter Notebooks; Javascript; node.js; HTML; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft PowerBI, Azure cognitive services
  • Develop and validate statistical models and tools
  • Using and leverage in-house expertise and knowledge of DNV recommended practices including data quality, data management, and digital twin assurance frameworks.

 

Technical skills include:

  • Mining file-based data from file servers/hard drives/project shares and creating indexable / searchable / structured data sets
  • Identify, design and deploy engineering data solutions (e.g. web-apps and APIs) on cloud services like Microsoft Azure
  • Data mining and cleaning to create structured data from unstructured data sets
  • Coding prototype apps, predominantly Python (C#/.NET also used), using devops best practice, in collaboration with software engineers
  • Working with location-aware data to drive more value via mapping/GIS tools
  • Creating dashboards/visualizations using Microsoft PowerBI
  • Using the Office 365 portfolio and DNV’s Veracity platform to perform work
  •  

Key outputs include:

  • Work with the leadership team to identify and qualify customers’ future innovation activities
  • Support the delivery of high quality data engineering solutions, solving specific end-customer problems or opportunities, articulate solutions; bring them to life for customers, often as working cloud prototypes, working with relevant engineering and services teams, and partners as appropriate
  • Support specific customer engagements and customer briefings
  • Support efforts to drive scale in the delivery of Digital Innovation engagements, notably working with marketing, partners
  • Be an active participant within the Innovation cohort, attending workshops, meetings and briefings and sharing knowledge effectively across the Energy Systems teams.

Position Qualifications

DNV’s Energy Systems business in the UK and Ireland has secured a number of exciting, high-profile projects across the energy sector. As a result, we’re seeking candidates who are passionate about working at the intersection of technology and the energy system within a relatively small, yet creative team.

 

 

Key skills required:
