Local Unit & Position Description

As a Senior Consultant Energy Markets your responsibilities will relate to two types of activities:

  • Consultancy:

    • Provide delivery of consultancy services for customers in Asia Pacific including electric utilities, renewable energy project developers, electric network operators, regulators, among others.
    • Execute project work and manage projects with a focus on technologies that could play a role in the future energy system including renewable generation, hydrogen and electricity storage. This will include technology feasibility studies, business case calculations and scenario studies.
    • Prepare reports, deliver presentations, and manage customers.
    • Work with cross-functional and global teams for project delivery.

  • Sales:

    • Build a network with potential clients.
    • Support in selling new projects to grow our business.
    • Identify market opportunities and develop our services based on these market needs.
    • Participate in customer meetings.
    • Prepare quality proposals addressing the needs of our customers.

Position Qualifications

Necessary Position Qualifications

  • University degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, others (specialization in power is a plus).
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in the Asia-Pacific region .
  • Detailed understanding of opportunities and issues in energy markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Understanding of different energy-related technologies, their role in the energy system and benefits & downsides compared to other technologies.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel abroad (when possible, up to 10% of time).

Preferred Position Qualifications

  • Experience with managing complex energy related projects.
  • Understanding of electricity generation from hydropower in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Familiarity with PLEXOS or other energy market modelling software.
  • Knowledge of the utilization of power purchase agreements for renewable generation.
  • Business development experience.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin.

  • Strong skills and capabilities to develop yourself as a consultant.
  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team.
  • Understanding of the technical consequences of a business decision as well as the business consequences of a technical decision.
  • Ability to handle complex (technical) problems and be able to deal with multiple parties with conflicting interests.
