Renewables Certification (RC) belongs to business area Energy Systems (ES) with more than 4000 people globally. Renewables Certification has the global responsibility for Type Certification (TC), Component Certification (CC) and Project Certification (PC) for Renewables within ES. Currently Renewables Certification consists of 250+ experts with locations in Beijing, Boston, Copenhagen, Dresden, Esbjerg, Hamburg, Høvik, London, Busan, Shanghai, Taipei and Yokohama.

Renewables Certification is the global market leader in the Renewables Certification market and is involved in 80% of Project Certification for offshore wind parks including offshore substations in the world.

 

We are looking for a world class Lead Mechanical Engineer with extensive wind industry experience in design, production, testing and operation of components like gears, bearings, shafts, couplings, brakes and integration of these components. Your work will include:

  • Verification of wind turbine powertrain component designs including material and process selection, lubrication, validation methods
  • Participation in failure investigations and root cause evaluation of wind turbine mechanical components
  • Machinery components CAE analysis with software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, Simpack, ROMAX, Kissoft, StPlus
  • Review of drawings and concepts for wind turbine powertrains and actuation systems with focus on performance, durability and reliability
  • Work with other world class experts in developing best practices, guidelines and standards in design, manufacturing, testing and operation of wind turbine mechanical components
  • Inspections and manufacturing surveillance of machinery components
  • Evaluation and witnessing of system level and component level tests 
  • Responsibility for mentoring entry-level engineers in the team
  • Support establishing and maintaining key customer relationships at technical level with wind turbine supply chain players

Position Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Min. 10 years of experience as a Design Engineer from a mechanical component supplier to the wind industry
  • Working knowledge of CAE software used in design and review of mechanical components, for example, ANSYS, ABAQUS, Simpack, ROMAX, Kissoft, StPlus, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with metallurgical properties and manufacturing processes of mechanical components from e.g. sub-supplier qualification processes and audits or quality management
  • Expertise in one or more of the following fields:
    • Rotating machinery design
    • Bearing, Gear design, and gearbox lubrication
    • Large diameter ball and roller slewing bearings
    • Large diameter journal bearings and elasto hydrodynamic lubrication
  • Outstanding technical problem-solving abilities based on a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals
  • A team player with strong communication skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Willing to take business travels locally and internationally (20 days per year maximum)
