Local Unit & Position Description

To enable Energy Systems to achieve its strategic ambitions and become future fit, we need leaders who drive business operations to meet customers’ expectations while also continuously improving the way we work. Region Northern Europe is therefore seeking a Key Account Manager to further develop stronger value propositions for key customers in Energy Intense Industry market segment.  

 

You will be responsible for customers in the Energy Intense industry (steel and metallurgy, construction material, glass, paper, chemical and pharmaceutical industries) within the region Northern Europe with a strong focus on the German market. As such you will report to the Market Area Manager Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.


This role gives customers a voice within the organization, challenges the internal organization on customer centricity and provides input for customer policy and strategy. You will strongly focus on customers, drive sales, and manage customer relations successfully. For developing targeted Key Account campaigns, you will collaborate closely with Marketing, Communication & Public Affairs. Last but not least: You will contribute to building the (people) sales competencies​ and strive for a high performing and collaborative culture.

 

Primary tasks of this role:

 

  • Identify customer needs and requirements, develop solutions and value propositions in close collaboration with the respective Service Areas
  • Drive sales, by actively managing sales pipeline growth and increasing order intake for defined Key customer(s). Strong influence on project pricing, resourcing and bid quality 
  • Optimize customer experience
  • Monitor and manage the sales funnel from sales qualified leads to won opportunities
  • Seek key customer and market insight
  • Build and expand relevant internal and external network
  • Acts as a project sponsor for key projects, monitor delivery of projects/services to ensure high-quality and consistency, participate in cross-sector opportunities
  • Support the Regional Leadership team in strategy and decision making

Position Qualifications

  • Educated to at least degree level, preferably in electrical engineering
  • Several years experience working at a senior level in the Energy Intense Industry segment, alternatively comparable sales role within this segment
  • Outstanding solution orientation and proven ability to identify opportunities
  • Exceptional commercial awareness, good understanding of market drivers and challenges and market foresight 
  • Excellent understanding of the regulatory, political, and competitive landscape in Germany and the European energy system
  • Solid understanding of the operational needs and challenges of large industrial customers
  • Strong experience in industrial energy systems (power, gas, hydrogen) and the underlying decarbonization and resulting business challenges
  • Proven business development ability within this sector, building lasting, strong and stable relationships with customers
  • Ambitious personality with can do attitude, permanently seeking to expand own horizon
  • Excellent written and oral German and English language skills
