Area Benelux & France is part of the Maritime Region West Europe consisting of a team of approximately 100 enthusiastic and committed employees taking care of a variety of Maritime technical services, that are delivered to our customers from five office locations (Rotterdam, Antwerp, Le Havre, Saint-Nazaire and Marseille).

 

Position Description: 

Are you having a passion for the maritime industry, then we are looking for you as a Ship Surveyor based in Rotterdam, the maritime capital of Europe. You will become a member of a highly qualified and enthusiastic team serving the maritime industry and various ship types, among others Container, Cruise, Tanker and ROPAX ships.

 

Main job responsibilities are:

  • Inspection and classification onboard ocean-going ships for compliance with DNV Rules for Classification, statutory requirements and international standards;
  • Maintain the confidentiality of customers’ business, processes, designs, developments and documentation at all times.
  • Takes responsibility for own competence and career development and ensure that the appropriate authorisations are gained and are kept up to date.
  • Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal / external feedback as appropriate;

Position Qualifications

  • Master or Bachelor’s degree in engineering (i.e. Naval Architecture) or Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner or Engineer)
  • Preferably seagoing experience as 2nd officer/ engineer or higher ranking onboard ocean going vessels, or other relevant technical background;
  • Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job, such as climbing pilot ladders, tank inspections, crew boat launches, voyage surveys and flying;
  • Good communication skills in English language, both verbal and in writing (Dutch language as an advantage);
  • An independent, self-organized team player with a positive customer-oriented mindset;
  • Asks for and acts on feedback to learn and improve;
  • Holds a valid Dutch driver’s license (or equivalent to the recognised standard)
  • Flexibility to work outside normal working hours, if the job requires.
