The sections Fixed and Floating Structures are looking for a graduate structural engineer. The two sections are part of business area Energy Systems, region Northern Europe and consists of 40 structural engineers. Most of the employees are working at Høvik outside Oslo. However, the section is also represented in DNV's offices in Stavanger and Trondheim offering flexibility in work location.
The unit is highly competent within structural assessments and analyses of steel structures, including offshore wind installations, offshore fish farms, floating bridges and oil & gas platforms. The engineers in the section cooperate closely with other units in DNV forming complementary multidisciplinary project teams. Our projects are related to both new-builds and units in service within existing and new emerging markets. This has resulted in a stable workload and challenging tasks for many years which are set to continue for the coming years.

What to expect as a Graduate in Fixed and Floating Structures in Energy Systems:
- Execution of structural and hydrodynamic analyses of offshore structures, e.g. global and local (linear) analyses
- Advanced analyses such as frequency and time domain analyses along with non-linear analyses for structures exposed to extreme loads, e.g. boat impact, fire, explosion, dropped object and extreme wave loads (slamming)
- Capacity evaluations of offshore steel structures for ultimate, fatigue and accidental limit state conditions
- Structural reassessment and life extension of offshore structures due to ageing, degradation or changes in the design premises
- Programming to ensure effective work processes and develop new applications for future demands also in collaboration with commercial software providers such as DNV Digital Solutions

Our section supports a wide variety of industries such as energy islands, fixed and floating wind structures, cables, subsea structures, jack-ups, jackets, pipelines, Ports & Terminals, anchors for floating structures and Infrastructure (both offshore and onshore). We work through the whole life of the asset, from early concept development to operation. Among others, we:
- Advise on soil investigation program
- Review Soil reports and verify soil design parameters
- Review geotechnical design reports
- Perform independent analysis, which can range from simple hand calculations to advanced complex nonlinear analysis, to support our customers manage risks
- Act as client’s rep for offshore site surveys campaigns
- Perform root-cause-analysis to understand what can be improved when things do not go as expected
- Develop standards and best practices and run Joint Industry Projects to support the industry achieve optimal solutions while ensuring structural integrity requirements are met.
