  Bladed is the global industry-leading wind turbine design tool used by wind turbine manufacturers, consultants, researchers and for certification.  Bladed is currently going through a major programme of re-architecting and innovation to ensure that it retains its market-leading position into the 2020s and beyond – all of which makes it a particularly exciting time to join the team!   Today we have around 26 engineering professionals blending physics and mechanics, software engineering, user experience and customer support. We are organised as multiple scrum teams with most people in UK (Bristol/ London) and with some developers in Denmark (Aarhus) and Germany (Hamburg).   At the core of Bladed is its simulation engine which has been extensively validated against measured data from a wide range of turbines. The simulation code is developed in C++ and Fortran for Windows and Linux.      We are looking for an experienced software developer who has worked on complex scientific/engineering software projects in a commercial environment (working in agile framework with regular release cycles) and demonstrates a strong aptitude for software architecture, design, and development.   This role, subject to individual agreement, is suitable for people able to work between 30 and 37.5 hours per week and is offered with flexibility on working location and on daily hours. Ideally the applicant would attend one of our office locations listed above, with some days each week working from home if desired. As a minimum you would need to attend the office for team events and be available on-line for meetings and discussions during our core hours (10am – 3pm UK) on at least 4 days per week.   The chosen candidate will be involved in transitioning the code base to a more maintainable modularised architecture; they will collaborate with engineers with a wide range of domain expertise to understand user requirements, help deliver new functionality, and boost team efficiency by putting in place initiatives that will tackle technical debt.    Current and upcoming relevant focus areas for the development team are:  - Build interfaces with other engineering tools (e.g. Sesam, SIMA) to create new offshore wind design workflows, and APIs to enable Bladed to be coupled to other codes  - Re-structure the code to improve maintainability and reduce development time (e.g. through improved modularisation), and to enable the code to work with a new JSON data model format   - Transition legacy code from Fortran to C++ In the role you will:  - Contribute to the software architecture, design and development of new features in the simulation code.  - Propose and execute improvements to the existing code structure and design, and code quality of the engineering calculation.  - Contribute to improving the engineering development toolchain (e.g. improve the cross-platform development environment).  - Guide less experienced developers to improve their software skills and practices.  - Review the work of other developers and help to continuously improve overall code quality.

The department of Energy Markets & Strategy (EMS) in region Northern-Europe covers a wide range of topics bridging business, market drivers and technical solutions. We serve utilities, transmission system operators, or other infrastructure companies, large industries, governmental organizations, regulators as well as developers and investors in the energy market to realize their goals and ambitions. There is a strong focus on the challenges of the Energy Transition. The EMS department contains 92 consultants in 6 countries: Netherlands, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Sweden en Denmark.   The EMS team in Denmark is currently growing and to strengthen our team we are looking for a Senior/Principal Consultant to strengthen our capabilities in the context of the energy transition in Denmark and the Nordics. We are looking for an experienced consultant with deep understanding of and track record in energy systems, infrastructure, markets and strategy who can take the role as a lead consultant and key expert in projects and take a pro-active role in selling new projects to our clients. The consultant will collaborate closely with the EMS colleagues in our offices in the other countries.   Your tasks and responsibilities will be to:   Consultancy - advise our clients in our projects about the (future) energy systems, infrastructure, markets and strategy - combine that with the role of project manager - be the key expert and first point of contact for our customers on specific topics or services related to the energy systems and markets - write and review proposals reports and advice to our customers - contribute to clear and high-quality customer interactions and presentations - work together with and lead colleagues and experts in projects. - leverage with younger colleagues and develop the team. - cooperate with EMS experts in the other EMS teams in Northern Europe   Sales - sell new projects to grow our business - build a network with potential clients - identify market opportunities and develop our services based on these market needs - write winning proposals for our customers - take the lead in service development where needed linked to the market opportunities.
