We currently seek new colleagues who will support service deliveries within one or more of the following areas:
- Ship hydrodynamic performance: Evaluation of the effect of various hydrodynamic measures to reduce vessel emissions, using a combination of simplified methods, computational fluid dynamics and measurements
- Data science: Working with various sources of data, utilizing appropriate analysis methodology to support decision making and generate insights
- Stability: Deterministic and probabilistic intact and damage stability of ships and other floating structures, using NAPA as our main tool
- Wave-structure interaction problems: Use a combination of potential flow methods and computational fluid dynamics to assess local and global loads and their effect on different type of marine structures

- Computational Fluid Dynamics for resistance and propulsion of ships, including effect of energy efficiency measures

- Development and application of methodology utilizing on-board measurements to quantify effect of technical and operational measures to reduce emissions
- Various programming tasks and data analysis tasks in close collaboration with domain experts
- Perform stability calculations according to applicable rules for different vessel types using NAPA
- Stability assessment for various offshore structures
- Support clients in calculation of fatigue and extreme loads on marine structures

We seek a Scada Project Manager, a talented and proactive person who will join our team as Project Team Member.
The person in this role will be reporting to US Team Lead. The position will belong to Project Execution Section.
This position can be based out of any of our DNV offices within the Continental U.S., preferably in our DNV office in Austin, TX.
What You’ll Do
- Managing the SCADA Software Projects from the moment, the Purchase Order is received until the project is completely delivered and accepted by the customer
- Improving the performance of the data acquisition system to ensure the maximum quality and availability
- R&D on Control/Automation processes for wind and solar plants
- Integration of data with Utility and other 3rd Parties (thru FTP/API/OPC, others)
- Analysis of photovoltaic and wind projects to monitor all the variables needed and validate the data
- Managing the schedules for deliveries
- Managing the internal teams working on the SCADA and Control System
- Managing the configuration of the software to get the best value for the data
- Assistance with general group activities
- Occasional travel of a short-term nature
- Technical report writing, critical reviewing, and professional presentation to clients
- Manage the resources of the Project
- Manage and control Costs and Invoicing of the project
The successful candidate will act as a key member of the global offshore wind team, engaged in feasibility studies, concept design, analysis, design review, construction observation, and analysis of offshore wind projects.
The engineer in this position will have a highly visible role and is expected to be involved in offshore wind energy projects in Australia and abroad and be involved in setting standards of practice in the renewable energy industry.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline (electrical, mechanical, geotechnical or civil/structural engineering)
- More than 15 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in relation to offshore and utility scale renewables
- Significant offshore wind experience on large scale projects e.g. UK, Europe, USA, APAC.
- The right to live and work in Australia is preferred (Visa, Permanent Residency, Citizenship). However, Visa sponsorship will be considered.
As part of DNV’s Energy Advisory Group in Australia and Asia Pacific, the role will involve working along with other specialists as part of our independent, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy team with a focus on utility scale offshore wind projects during feasibility, development, design, construction and operation.
The position is also expected to have business development responsibilities. This includes co-operating with colleagues world-wide to establish long-term customer relationships, keeping abreast of industry needs and trends, and supporting the growth of DNV’s operations in Australia.
The role will also be involved with the broader range of typical project engineering services including:
- Project due diligence reviews, lenders technical advisory services and related scopes of work, including equipment inspections, performance tests and contract reviews.
- Review, analysis, site inspection, reporting and client liaison in the areas of feasibility assessment, design, development, construction, operation, maintenance, due diligence and financing of grid-connected offshore wind energy projects.
- Client liaison including development and continual review of client requirements, managing client expectations, keeping clients informed of work progress and ensuring timely production of deliverables.
- Maintaining communication with other specialists from other international DNV offices and facilitating information sharing in this area.
You would be using your technical expertise for supporting your colleagues in the team with your knowledge on energy storage technologies, technical due diligence, conceptual design, technical specifications, procurement support, EPC/O&M contract review, design review, construction progress monitoring, testing and commissioning across the SEMELA region.
Most of the work will be desk based, but (national and international) travel for site and customer visits will be required at times (estimated at 5% to 20% of your time, depending on the projects you are involved in).
Main duties will include but are not limited to:
- Execute and/or manage energy storage related advisory projects, including technology review, technical due diligence, conceptual design, technical specifications, procurement support, EPC/O&M contract review, design review, construction progress monitoring, testing and commissioning, report writing, presentations, courses, etc.
- Support the development and maintenance of services and products related to Energy Storage.
- Extend your external network and identify, drive and facilitate sales and market led opportunities for energy storage e.g. generating leads, quality proposals and closing deals in cooperation with the Market Area Managers for the region.
- Analyze new business opportunities, gather market intelligence and ensure distribution of knowledge amongst relevant colleagues.
- Achieve sales as per targets agreed with the Storage Team Lead.
- Build an internal network to gain and share knowledge and opportunities.
