The two sections are part of business area Energy Systems, region Northern Europe and consists of 40 structural engineers. Most of the employees are working at Høvik outside Oslo. Our unit Electrical Safety located in Esbjerg is looking for candidates with min. engineering degree (B.Sc.) to strengthen our group of engineers and specialists, performing various assurance, verification and advisory tasks for a broad range of customers throughout the entire value chain on- and offshore Oil & Gas, renewable energy, P2X and energy transmission. In a typical energy OT environment, several components and devices from different manufacturers have to interoperate flawlessly. Communication standards are a basic requirement to realize open infrastructures and device interoperability. Energy companies often require that a product passes a conformance test before they will proceed to purchase. The test will reveal any interpretation problems and bugs in the software at an early stage (before implementation on the customer’s site). In DNV's experience, more than 90 percent of devices fail the first test. It has been proven that using certified products significantly reduces communication problems when a device enters service.   We are searching for two roles or two combined roles, Software Developer and/or Test Engineer. The Ships in Operation team deals with a large variety of vessel types, with special focus on Container Ships, Ferries, Unitized Dry Cargo vessels, Gas tankers, Oil Carriers, Chemical Carriers, Offshore Service vessels, Crane vessels, Passenger Vessels, and HSLC. You will become a member of a highly qualified and enthusiastic FiS team, a top-tier Ship Classification hub. The team is constantly engaged with maritime industry customers, that include international fleet operators, oil majors, and wind turbine service companies. The fleet attended by our team includes wide variety from local fishing vessels to a large-scale floating production units and state of the art deep water drilling units. Due to the nature of our business and exposure to high-profile clients, the position requires a candidate who can apply and interpret DNV rules and international standards in a competent and common-sense manner whilst maintaining an adequate level of compliance and safety. The role will require a certain self-discipline and strong safety mindset to adapt to dynamically changing conditions and environment.   Candidate should have necessary technical background and experience to be able to commence work after the orientation and training period. Training timeframe will be agreed with the candidate. Once qualified the candidate will work autonomously at client assets and locations supported by local network of surveyors and DNV’s technical helpdesk.
