In a typical energy OT environment, several components and devices from different manufacturers have to interoperate flawlessly. Communication standards are a basic requirement to realize open infrastructures and device interoperability. Energy companies often require that a product passes a conformance test before they will proceed to purchase. The test will reveal any interpretation problems and bugs in the software at an early stage (before implementation on the customer’s site). In DNV's experience, more than 90 percent of devices fail the first test. It has been proven that using certified products significantly reduces communication problems when a device enters service.   We are searching for two roles or two combined roles, Software Developer and/or Test Engineer. In Arnhem we operate the world’s first accredited IEC 61850 level A test lab and within DNV we are the centre of excellence on data communication protocols. Our Opportunity: Our Jack up and Geotechnical engineering team, are a diverse group of Geotechnical, structural and mechanical engineers, specializing in installation and operation of jack-up vessels that are currently used to install wind turbines and perform oil and gas activities, offshore. Our projects can be located almost anywhere around the world from Norway to New Zealand, providing genuine variety to the range of challenges you will encounter. Whilst our projects are global, this position is based at our London office (near Waterloo/Blackfriars stations), from where you will collaborate closely with geotechnical colleagues across our organisation. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of technical work and managing a variety of exciting offshore projects. Your role will be to understand and analyse these, following the relevant international standards and/or latest research, reviewing and interpreting geotechnical data to produce ground models and design soil profiles of the seabed, identifying any related risks. You’ll also perform foundation analyses to determine the appropriate foundation capacities and stiffnesses that would be used in the assessments of the structure. In addition, you will also be engaged with performing other types of calculations for issues such foundation interactions with uneven seabeds, cyclic soil behaviour, liquefaction, scour, or the forces required to extract the legs from the seabed. For these calculations we often also use 2D and 3D finite element analyses.
